Nursery life

Play-led days for children aged 2 to 4, with a lot of time outdoors.

Learning through play

Play areas are organised so that children find meaningful learning in their own interests. They choose, explore and lead, and the adults notice, join in and plan what comes next.

Your child's key worker records what they see in their Learning Journey, which you can look at whenever you like.

Imaginative Play

Imaginative play gives children room to try out ideas, stories and roles, which builds language, friendships and confidence.

Outdoor Play

We spend a lot of time outdoors, and children play outside whatever the weather. Please send a coat and, in bad weather, a hat, scarf and gloves. In summer, children need a sun hat to play outside.

Sessions

Session times, funding and fees

Session times

Open Monday to Friday during term time.

  • Morning session: 8:30am to 11:30am
  • Afternoon session: 12:15pm to 3:15pm
Funding

Palm Tree provides funded early education places for eligible 2-, 3- and 4-year-olds.

Eligible children can access 15 or 30 funded hours, depending on eligibility. Funded hours are free of charge, and you never have to buy extra hours, goods or services to get your child's funded entitlement.

Funded hours are offered according to our available sessions and the requirements of the funded early education entitlement. We will tell you which sessions are available when you arrange your child's place.

Fees
  • Extra private hours outside your child's funded entitlement are optional and cost £8.00 per hour. You do not need to buy them to get funded hours.
  • Nappies and personal care: parents provide their child's nappies and any personal care items, so there is no charge for these.
  • Food: the nursery does not provide food, snacks or lunch, so there is no food charge. Please send your child's snack, and lunch if they need it.
  • Optional activities: if we offer an optional paid activity, we will tell you the cost and any alternative in advance. You never have to buy one to use your funded hours.
  • Invoices and receipts show funded hours, additional private hours at £8.00 per hour, and any other additional charges separately.
