Who we are
Palm Tree Nursery School is a nursery for children aged 2 to 4 at 58 St Silas's Rd, Blackburn BB2 6JX. We are responsible for the personal information we collect and use, as described here. You can contact us at info@palmtreenursery.co.uk or on 01254 697960.
What information we collect
- Through this website's enquiry form: your name, email address and/or phone number, your child's age group (if you choose to give it), your preferred times to visit or call, and anything you write in your message.
- When you apply for a place and when a child attends: the details on our forms about the child and their family, including contact details, and information needed for funded early education places and for looking after the child.
- Photographs and video of children, only as described below.
The website does not use tracking or advertising cookies.
Why we use it
- To reply to your enquiry and arrange visits.
- To manage admissions, places and funded hours.
- To keep in touch with parents and carers about their child and the nursery.
- To look after children safely and meet our legal duties.
Enquiries and admissions
When you send an enquiry we use the details you give to reply to you. We ask you to tick a box to confirm you are happy for us to do this. Please do not put your child's date of birth or any medical information in the enquiry form. We can collect what we need later, on our own forms.
Photographs and video
We ask for parents' consent before we use photographs or videos of their child. We only use them in the ways parents have agreed to, and parents can withdraw their consent at any time by telling us.
Safeguarding and legal duties
Keeping children safe comes first. Where the law requires it, or where a child's safety is at risk, we may need to record and share information with the right authorities, even without consent.
When we share information
We do not sell personal information. We share it only when it is needed: for example, with the relevant local authority for funded early education places, with safeguarding or other authorities when the law requires, or with companies that help us run our website and send messages for us, under proper controls.
Security
We keep personal information in systems with access limited to the people who need it, protected by passwords and two-step sign-in for administrators. Enquiries are sent over an encrypted connection.
How long we keep it
Ordinary enquiries and admissions enquiries made through this website are kept for up to 18 months, because families often enquire before a child is old enough to attend. We may delete them earlier when we no longer need them. Records about children who attend, and records about safeguarding, accidents and incidents, complaints, and funding, are kept for as long as the law and official guidance require.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to limit or object to how we use it, and in some cases to receive a copy. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would like the chance to put things right first, so please contact us.
